A showcase by Multidisciplinary Scottish Artist Sophie Frost.
“My collection for Flow sits as a tribe in three collections that seek to stand alone, together and as one. Concerned with the spiritual, they emulate the essence of dusk, day and night time, embodying that energy through their slip and oxide surfaces alongside ornamented hoops and moons.”
Sophie Frost is a multidisciplinary Scottish artist based in Hampshire. She runs Dea-Domus, a ceramic and furniture studio centred around studio pottery. Currently, Sophie creates collections of wheel-thrown stoneware vases, vessels, and sculptures, often inspired by ceramics of ancient Mediterranean civilisations.
Sophie graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2016. She has since developed her visual language informed by painting, sculpture, and a conversation surrounding Craft. This exploration naturally progressed into the form of ceramics and furthered through a studio pottery apprenticeship. She uses traditional processes to create shapes and surfaces which aim to play with the role of ceramics domestically. Form and function, pattern and mark making are often in dialogue as the artist creates uniquely designed pieces of one-off collections.
