'WHILST OUR WORK IS INHERENTLY COLLABORATIVE WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE MAKING PROCESS'
Ash & Plumb explore the ancient aesthetic archetypes of vessels in a modern context. Taking reference from ancient archetypes Barnaby & Dru play with historically ceremonial forms interpreting them into their own visual language whilst celebrating the natural imperfections of the material with which they work. Fascinated by the meeting point between opposing qualities, their work reflects who they are as individuals and what they represent as a creative and romantic partnership. The juxtaposition of an aggressive making process that becomes increasingly fine and delicate, results in an elegant and curvaceous form. Or the precise control required when hollowing an unseasoned vessel when opposed to the natural warp that occurs during the drying process.
